Tookhar Tamasha Arts is an independent not-for profit group formed with the purpose of fundraising for Canadian charities, promoting Canadian talent in the field of multicultural arts through exchange of talent with overseas artists, social activities, and community developments in the Greater Toronto Area.
Since 2014, we have organized many cultural events to encourage local talents. In addition our events offer an opportunity to the Canadian multicultural communities to appreciate cultures of the South Asian community.
In 2020, despite the prevailing pandemic, the team from Tookhar including the volunteers came together to present 2 free virtual community events. Tookhar Tamasha Arts and Tookhar Bangla held 2 e-shows with Doctors, nurses, health care workers, singers and dance performers from Canada, India and the United Kingdom.
The first e-show was a salute to the frontline workers. Health professionals from India and Canada shared their experience and COVID related precautions with the audience. This was followed by live entertainment from different countries. The second e-show had 16 community members of Greater Toronto Area and from India come together virtually and to celebrate the Hundu annual festival – Dussherra. Each member fondly remembered how they celebrate the festival every year and how it is so different this year. This was followed by a beautiful set of songs, dances and recitations appropriately depicting both the Fall season and the festival. Both the events are available on Tookhar Tamasha Arts Youtube channel.
